Description
Focusing lens for CO₂ laser machines. Material — Chinese PVD zinc selenide (China PVD ZnSe), anti-reflection coated on both sides (AR/AR) for 10.6 µm. Diameter 18 mm, edge thickness 2.2 mm, focal length 63.5 mm.
What the lens does
The lens concentrates the laser beam into a single point. The more accurately the focus is set, the narrower the kerf and the cleaner the edge. The focal length determines the size of the focal spot and how deep the beam works in the material.
Which machine it fits
The lens fits laser heads designed for an 18 mm lens. Before ordering, check the lens seat diameter of your head and the focal length — 63.5 mm is one of the most common sizes on CO₂ machines.
Care
- handle the lens by the edge only, with gloves or a clean lens tissue;
- install it the way the manufacturer specifies — a lens mounted upside down shifts the focus;
- clean it with an optics cleaner, without scratching.
When to replace it
Burn marks, spots or scratches reduce power: cutting slows down and the edge becomes rough. That is when the lens should be replaced.
